Earlier this week the Holland Park School United Learning Medical Society - organised by our very own Year 12 students Sebastian C and Sahar R - was delighted to welcome its first guest speaker of the academic year. Dr Peter Hill, a consultant nephrologist, visited the school to speak to Sixth Form students. Dr Hill also sits on the admissions panel for Medicine at Imperial College London. Dr Hill began the talk by outlining the key steps of the application process into Medicine, from securing GCSE grades through to the interview stage. Students received further insights on how to prepare, as well as useful resources and details on the prerequisite mindset successful applicants must possess. Dr Hill exemplified this counsel as he narrated his own personal journey, allowing students to grasp both the opportunities and challenges aspiring medical students face. The talk ended with a Q&A session enabling students to engage with Dr Hill on a number of matters. Students were motivated and enthused, having been able to explore the career path of an experienced medical professional, and gain valuable insights into life as a medic.
