Earlier this month, 30 lucky Year 8 musicians attended a workshop and performance of Rossini's Barber of Seville by the company of @OperaHollandPark. Two of the Young Artist cast members from the Opera, Faryl Smith (a former Britain's Got Talent finalist) and Einar Stefansson led the workshop in our main school hall. Students received exclusive performances of two beautiful arias before taking part in group exercises which involved learning more about the plot of the production before creating their own freeze frames based on Rossini's music and lyrics. These students then attended a matinee performance and were mesmerised by, what was for many, their first experience of opera.
